What is food allergy immunotherapy?
Food allergy immunotherapy is a treatment that helps reduce sensitivity to specific food allergens through gradual, controlled exposure, aiming to build long-term tolerance and reduce the risk of severe reactions.
What are food challenges, and are they safe?
Food challenges are medically supervised procedures where small amounts of a suspected allergenic food are introduced in a controlled setting to determine whether a true allergy exists or to support desensitisation. They are conducted with specialist oversight to ensure safety.
What is an antibiotic challenge?
An antibiotic challenge is a careful, supervised test where a patient takes a small dose of an antibiotic they are believed to be allergic to, in order to assess whether the allergy is still present or to begin a desensitisation process if needed.
Who is suitable for allergy immunotherapy?
Allergy immunotherapy is suitable for individuals with confirmed allergies who continue to experience significant symptoms despite avoiding triggers or using medication. Suitability is always assessed by our specialist team based on clinical history and test results.
Is allergy immunotherapy safe?
Yes, when administered by trained professionals in a controlled clinical setting, immunotherapy is considered safe and effective. We closely monitor all patients during treatment to manage any potential reactions promptly.
What is the difference between an allergy and intolerance?
An allergy involves the immune system and can cause serious, sometimes life-threatening reactions, while an intolerance typically affects digestion and does not involve the immune system. Our specialists can help distinguish between the two.
Do I need a referral to attend the clinic?
You do not need a referral to attend our clinic.
Are your services available for adults?

Will my treatment be covered by insurance?
